About the Author(s)

Michael Burgan is the author of more than 200 books for children and young adults, both fiction and nonfiction. His works include the five-volume series Science in Everyday Life in America, The Automobile, and biographies of the scientists Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Robert Hooke, and George Washington Carver. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, he is also a playwright. He lives with his wife, Samantha, in Connecticut.
