Summary
Before the hilarious antics of this rubber-faced comedian were topping box office sales in movies such as Liar, Liar, The Mask, and Ace Ventura, comedian Jim Carrey grappled with a period of destitution and homelessness. Through perseverance, plus a prime gig opening for legendary comedian Rodney Dangerfield, Carrey was able to develop his comedic skills and his repertoire. Though he started out by doing mostly impressions, he developed his own unique brand of comedy that, on occasion, had audiences confused. Eventually, Carrey was cast on the TV skit comedy show In Living Color and from there, in the movie Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, which brought the funnyman international fame and recognition. Soon, Carrey was everywhere in the movies—The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, The Truman Show—and suddenly his star seemed a bit brighter. As his career progressed, comedian broadened his repertoire to include more dramatic roles. Jim Carrey is the touching story of his amazing turnaround, from life on the street to standup comedian and then blockbuster film success.
