Summary
The youngest of 10 children, Janet Jackson grew up in the family business: entertainment. Five of her brothers formed the Jackson 5 musical group, and at a young age, her father told her that she should plan on following in their footsteps as a performer. Though she acted on several television shows, including Good Times, Diff'rent Strokes, and Fame, her true calling was music. In 1986, she released the album Control, and the first single "What Have You Done for Me Lately?" went to number 1 on the charts. The follow-up album, Rhythm Nation, dominated the charts with seven Top Five singles and four number-one hits. Since then, Jackson's albums have been chart-topping successes. But her life has not been without trouble. While performing during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, co-performer Justin Timberlake accidentally ripped her costume, creating a "wardrobe malfunction" on live TV. In 2009, her brother Michael was pronounced dead after accidentally ingesting a fatal combination of prescription medication. In Janet Jackson, read about this talented singer and actress.
