About the Author(s)
General editor John S. Bowman received a B.A. in English literature from Harvard University and matriculated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, as Harvard's Fiske Scholar, as well as at the University of Munich. He has worked as an editor for almost 50 years and as a freelance writer for almost as long. Bowman has edited some 20 works on wars and military history and another 15 on general history. Among the other projects he has edited are Facts About the American Wars, World Almanac of the Vietnam War, The Civil War Almanac, and Almanac of American History.
