About the Author(s)

Eli Maor, Ph.D., is adjunct professor of mathematics at Loyola University of Chicago (1995-present) and adjunct professor at Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL (1990-present). Maor earned a Ph.D. in mathematics 1969 from the Israel Institute of Technology, and has published several works, including Trigonometric Delights (Princeton University Press, 1998) and To Infinity and Beyond: A Cultural History of the Infinite (Princeton University Press, 1991), which has been translated into German, Japanese, Italian, and Korean. Maor was an editorial consultant in 1989 and a contributor in 2000 to Encyclopedia Britannica.
