Christopher L. Salter is professor and chair emeritus of the geography department at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He spent three years teaching English and economic geography at Tunghai University in Taiwan and has traveled to East Asia eight times. He is the author of more than 120 articles and more than a dozen books, including South Korea and Taiwan in Chelsea House's Modern World Nations series.
