About the Author(s)

Jeremy Peirce, Ph.D., graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. in biology and earned his Ph.D. in molecular biology from Princeton University. In 2003, he went to the University of Tennessee, where he worked on microarray-derived complex trait analysis in mice. In addition to scientific writing and research, Peirce has written popular-science articles and technology/software reviews for The Scientist, Science, Eye World Magazine, and Minnesota Medicine.

Foreword author Pat Levitt, Ph.D., is the director of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development.
