We see their faces on television, on the Internet, and in newspapers, but what do we really know about the people we call terrorists? Where do they live? What are their families and homes like? What are their motives? Who Are the Terrorists? strives to answer these questions and more while allowing readers to draw their own conclusions. By examining famous individual terrorists, notorious terrorist groups, and the statistics that describe them, the reader will find that terrorists are not all of the same religion, race, or creed. Instead, we discover, the word "terrorist" is used to describe people pf radically different backgrounds, with diverse methods and goals for shaping the world to their own specifications.

About the Author(s)
Dipak K. Gupta is the Fred J. Hansen Professor of World Peace at San Diego State University; Distinguished Professor in political science; and Director of the Institute for International Security and Conflict Resolution (ISCOR). He is the author of six books and more than 80 articles. He has been a visiting fellow at many universities, including the Hoover Institute on War, Revolution, and Peace at Stanford University, St. Antony's College at Oxford University, Leiden University in The Netherlands, and Fudan University in Shanghai, China. His primary research areas include various aspects of political violence and terrorism.
