Infobase Partners with BBC Learning, Doubles Its BBC Video Content for Academic, K12, and Public Libraries

New York, NY, December 13, 2018—Infobase announced today that it has signed an agreement with BBC Learning, a division of BBC Studios, that adds streaming access to thousands of new videos in addition to renewing its access to all currently licensed BBC Studios content.

In this new deal, Infobase has gained worldwide rights to offer the acclaimed BBC Studios content to its public library customers on its streaming video platform Access Video On Demand as well as through its K–12 (Classroom Video On Demand and Learn360) and academic (Films On Demand) collections.

In addition, 70+ marquee BBC Studios titles will be added to the K–12 collection—making Classroom Video On Demand and Learn360 the largest K–12 streaming providers in America with this content.

This deal effectively doubles the amount of BBC Studios content Infobase can offer through its public library, K–12, and academic streaming video platforms, with an initial 2,500 additional titles and 100 new titles added annually from the current copyright year. The wide-ranging new BBC Studios content joins popular, high-interest series such as Into the Mind, In Search of Science, Horrible Histories, Secrets of the Superbrands, Art of America, and a wealth of other titles already on the platform.

"BBC Learning aims to transform lives through education," said Kara Iaconis, Global Head, BBC Learning. "Partnering with Infobase is in perfect alignment with that mission by extending the reach of our curriculum-linked content across the global educational landscape."

"BBC Learning is one of the most prestigious providers of educational video content, and we value our long-standing relationship," said Mark McDonnell, CEO and president of Infobase Holdings. "We're thrilled to be able to offer our customers access to more of this vital content through our robust streaming video platforms than has ever been made available before."

All of the BBC Studios videos offered by Infobase now fall under the BBC Learning umbrella. Customers viewing the new content through Infobase's streaming video collections can enjoy powerful features such as unlimited access on- or off-site, free MARC records, the ability to create and share playlists, dynamic citations, and more. Infobase will also make the BBC Learning titles available on DVD and a la carte.
