Bloom’s Literature and Issues & Controversies Are BESSIE Award Winners

New York, NY, April 21, 2015—Infobase is pleased to announce that two of its online databases are winners of The ComputED Gazette's 21st Annual Best Educational Software Awards (BESSIES): Bloom's Literature in the "High School Literature Database Website" category, and Issues & Controversies in the "High School Social Studies Database" category.

The ComputED Gazette describes the BESSIES as awards that "target innovative and content-rich programs…and Web sites that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence." Award winners are chosen annually, and selected from titles submitted by publishers worldwide. The ComputED Gazette has previously awarded BESSIES to other Infobase databases: Today’s Science, World News Digest, The World Almanac® Online, The World Almanac® for Kids Online, and World Religions Online.

Bloom’s Literature—the must-have first stop for literary research—is the definitive source for literary essays and criticism selected by esteemed scholar Harold Bloom, plus a wealth of acclaimed literature content from Infobase, full-length videos of classic plays, and guidance on writing essays on frequently assigned authors and works. The new and improved Issues & Controversies provides exclusive, objective coverage of hundreds of today’s hot-button issues, through timely, in-depth articles; provocative debate videos from Intelligence Squared; original overview videos; and other helpful tools. Last year, both databases were selected as winners of the Annual Education Software Review Awards (EDDIES), also from The ComputED Gazette.
