Infobase Learning Adds TEDTalks to Its Films On Demand Streaming Video Platforms

New York, NY, April 16, 2012—Infobase Learning is delighted to announce the addition of world-renowned TEDTalks to its highly regarded Films On Demand family of streaming video products. More than 200 TEDTalks—which are widely respected for bringing together some of the most fascinating and forward-thinking minds in areas from technology, science, and global issues to entertainment, design, and business—have been added, with hundreds more expected by the end of the year.

Through this collaboration, Films On Demand is the first subscription video platform to index and integrate TEDTalks for the higher education market. In addition, the talks have been added to Films On Demand's streaming video products for the high school and public library markets (Classroom Video On Demand and Access Video On Demand, respectively). Its acclaimed digital delivery system allows educators, students, and librarians to conveniently view the TEDTalks as full-length videos or instantly access predefined segments that make it easy to find specific curriculum topics quickly. Users watching TEDTalks on the Films On Demand streaming video platform can also take advantage of the extensive range of features, such as the ability to save and organize favorite videos; simple integration into educational CMS; tools to create custom playlists; powerful browse and search options, including new Search Assist technology; and, for subscribers, easy access through the Special Collections tab.

"The addition of these exceptional lectures to our streaming video subscriptions strengthens our mission to deliver the highest-quality video content from the best producers," said Mark McDonnell, president and CEO of Infobase Learning, parent company of Films Media Group, Facts On File, and other esteemed brands. "The Films On Demand platform introduces a whole new level of flexibility to viewing and sharing TEDTalks in an educational setting."

"Teachers are heroes, and we're committed to doing all we can to empower them," said Chris Anderson, Curator of TED. "Collaborating with Infobase Learning to unlock the learning power of TEDTalks through the Films On Demand platform is an important step in our concerted effort to support the work of great teachers worldwide."

Highlights among the newly added TEDTalks titles include the likes of actor, playwright, and social critic Anna Deavere Smith; inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil; physician and author Dean Ornish; linguist Steven Pinker; theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking; psychologist Philip Zimbardo; climate change prophet Al Gore; behavioral economics founder Daniel Kahneman; writer Elizabeth Gilbert; dictionary editor Erin McKean; positive psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi; and tech visionary Nicholas Negroponte, to name just a few of the distinguished speakers.
